The Newburyport Montessori School offers a quality program in a nurturing environment that
enables each student to become a confident, competent individual and a lifelong learner.
Our objectives are to help each child develop autonomy, to have comfortable and productive
peer relations, to learn those basic skills and concepts necessary for intellectual development,
and to retain a sense of wonder and appreciation for the world.
Our program is tailored to meet the developing needs of children 2.9 – 6 years old. We recognize
and respect each students learning style and individualize our approach accordingly.
As educators, we feel that we grow, learn and change along with our students. Our basic goals
are: to be sensitive to the needs of each child, to prepare a curriculum based on the understanding
of those needs, to have a thorough knowledge of the materials and activities available, and to
approach each child with love and understanding.
Nurturing a love and respect for the Earth and all its inhabitants is an integral part of the
Montessori philosophy. Our school community values civility, respect for oneself and others,
and grace and courtesy. We are committed to offering children a safe, nonviolent environment in
which strategies for peaceful conflict resolution are developed.
We ask families that join our school to be partners with us in actively helping their children
develop these values. A childs school and home should complement one other.
