Want more information?
Our Montessori classrooms are carefully prepared by Montessori teachers to provide activities for all age groups and developmental levels. We follow the Montessori philosophy of learning, as taught by Dr. Maria Montessori. The primary goal is the development of the human potential. This is accomplished by:
Allowing each child to experience the excitement of learning based on his/her choice.
Helping each child develop skills for learning so that his/her potential will be maximized.
Classroom Goals
The children’s own inner motivation determines the activities that they choose each day, and the class goals as well. In addition, the teachers direct learning as they observe the children and see their individual needs. Children who are not ready to be self-directed are offered the necessary support.
Specific Classroom Goals and Objectives:
To live our mission in every corner of the school.
To prepare children so that they are doing pre-reading activities at 3, writing at 4, and reading at 5.
To implement the Montessori philosophy in a prepared environment by using Montessori equipment and the Montessori approach to learning as taught in AMI training programs.
To provide an environment suited to children’s needs in which each child has the opportunity to progress at his/her own level of development.
To maintain a happy, pleasant atmosphere in which the child can absorb information and find joy in learning.
To offer opportunities for socialization within the framework of respect for and cooperation with others.
To help each child develop self-confidence and an awareness of his/her own individual capabilities.
To encourage independence by emphasizing self-motivated learning and choice making.
To provide environments for children that support and supplement their home life by fostering each child’s independence, security, self-esteem, confidence, physical development, social interaction and self-realization.
To provide a real life environment where children work with the didactic materials in order to visualize what they are learning.
To respect the child as an individual and accept him/her as such.
To provide a non-competitive environment where children of different abilities and ages pursue individual tasks, as well as assist, share with and learn from one another.
To employ personnel qualified in and dedicated to Montessori principles.
To promote excellence in teaching, by facilitating regular faculty meetings to share expertise and knowledge and to regularly employ leaders in the Montessori community to help with staff development.
