Mi Sol Montessori Academy is raising the bar and we are starting early! We are a Montessori early childhood, kindergarten and early elementary learning center. Since 2006, we have been offering our students a superior educational experience. Our Montessori school features a true immersion language program in Spanish. The program is designed to immerse the child in our target foreign language (Spanish), so as to turn out functionally bi-lingual learners. Furthermore, our academic curriculum is designed to exceed State of Illinois curriculum outcomes. Our Montessori teachers are highly qualified possessing University Degrees, Montessori Certification, Special Education Degrees, K-9 State Certification, Spanish Degrees, Psychology Degrees, Education Degrees and years of Montessori teaching experience in a Spanish language immersion environment. This program explores the child’s potential, allowing the child to excel academically while at the same time fostering and nurturing positive character traits. We encourage the child to be himself and allow him the freedom to take ownership of learning activities. Developed by Maria Montessori, an Italian 20th century educator, this unique style of educating children uses a whole child approach in helping children reach various developmental stages at his/her own pace. Children are taught to be autonomous, independent and are presented material on an individual basis as opposed to the “one lesson plan fits all” approach. The Montessori child develops an inner feeling of success, independence, order, and confidence that is essential to academic success in future schooling. at its most basic level, the Montessori premise is that the learning capacity of a young child is fundamentally different from that of an adult. Dr. Montessori demonstrated this in the dogma of the “sensitive periods”. These periods are a time line in the development of a child, windows of opportunity in which natural optimal development is possible. The “sensitive periods” are at the core of the Montessori philosophy. With the help of the very observant teacher, the child’s full potential can be reached.
