REGARDING THE CHILDREN:
Children learn best when they feel safe
secure and loved. If these basic needs
arent met children are afraid to
venture out and seriously explore the
world around them. Children also learn
best when they are interested in the
activity they are engaged in. First and
foremost MMWD wants to meet the
social and emotional needs of young
children to enable them to feel
confident enough to explore their
environment and make choices about
which activities they prefer to engage
in. MMWD will strive to provide an
environment where children feel welcome safe and loved. We will do this by
providing a prepared environment (using Developmentally Appropriate Practice)
designed to spark childrens interests and learning capacity by cultivating
relationships between staff and children by and by setting clear limits and
boundaries for the children. We have many toys games and activities designed
to stimulate childrens interests at various age levels. Children will be allowed
to choose their activities during many parts of the day and will be led in guided
activities during other parts of the day striking a balance between child
initiated and teacher initiated activities.
