Preschool in Philadelphia, PA 19130
Located at Rodin Place 2000 Hamilton St. PHILADELPHIA the Fairmount Early Intervention Center is a specialized setting for three-to-five year-old children with significant developmental needs.
Fairmounts purpose is to help children learn and our staff works to develop each childs individual potential within the context of a group setting. Classrooms are set up to foster development in an environment that is stimulating and fun with a focus on bridging the gap between the childs disabilities and typical development. Fairmount has four classrooms each of which is staffed with a special educator and assistant teacher.
In addition to the staff educators Fairmount has occupational physical and speech therapists who work in classrooms to support children in their daily activities. Childrens families have access to an on-staff social worker to assist them with a variety of issues and needs impacting their childs development. Nurse consultants are also available to assist families in identifying and accessing help for developmentally-related childrens health issues.
Each child enrolled at Fairmount has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This IEP is based on the childs Evaluation Report (ER) as well as input from a team of early intervention staff parents and other participants who may be suggested by parents. The IEP develops goals and strategies which address the childs needs in class at home and in other settings.
FSS also runs a monthly parent education program for the parents of preschool children with significant development delays. Funding for the lectures workshops and presentations is provided by the van Ameringen Foundation. Classes take place at the Fairmount Early Intervention Center in the evenings.
