Sunshine Early Childhood Center was first opened as Sunshine School in April, 1947. at that time, there was one building, 12 students, and five staff members. The school was formed primarily to serve school age children with Cerebral Palsy. In later years, another large building containing a medical therapy unit was addEducation Student population expanded to include other severe disabilities in children ages 3 to 22.
Sunshine became Sunshine Early Childhood Center in 1994, serving infants, toddlers, and Preschoolers with a wide range of disabilities from mild to severe. There are several different programs at Sunshine Early Childhood Center including: 12 Special Day Classes, Preschool Intervention Program (mild disabilities), Headstart (2 classes), Early Childhood Assessment Team, and California Children Services for Occupational and Physical Therapy.
