Preschool in San Diego, CA 92107
Honey Bear Preschool and Childcare Center is an exceptional early childhood program that combines learning and play serving families in the San Diego and Vista areas. Our mission is to make a difference in the lives of children by providing high quality programs for young children and support for their families. We have two centers, one in the city of Vista in northern San Diego County and one in Point Loma. Our Point Loma campus is a stone’s throw away from Sea World and our Vista campus is on an idyllic two acre campus bordered by a stream.
The Vista School (formerly known as the Learning Village) is on 1.85 acres of beautiful country landscape on Taylor Street. There are many trees, plants, flowers, and a creek which provides an appealing atmosphere. We have an upper play yard with a slide, swings and other equipment, and a larger play yard in the lower field. The school building is about 3000 square feet with 5 classrooms for infants through Kindergarten. Our Kindergarteners are welcomed into local first grade classrooms and considered to have excellent reading, math and classroom skills. Our classes are small and individualized creating a perfect environment for the Kindergarteners to learn Spanish, French and American Sign Language.
The Point Loma School is located in a quiet neighborhood near to the Point Loma YMCA and Dusty Rhodes Park and across the river from Sea World. We have three sizable buildings with 8 classrooms ranging from infants through 5-year-olds, with individual play yards for each age group and many centers to explore. We have great, child-centered teachers who love to engage with children, help them learn and revel in their play. We have yoga classes, music and movement and summertime swim lessons.
Honey Bear Preschool and Child Care Center stresses education—not only in its children’s programs, but also for its teachers and parents-as its highest priority. We are a family run and owned preschool organization established over forty years ago. Both the programs are outgrowths of master’s thesis projects and have been constantly upgraded following the latest research on infant and child development. Our campuses are often used as an exemplary program observation sites for college child development students, early childhood educators, and professional organizations.
