Preschool in San Francisco, CA 94117
The Lyce was founded in San Francisco in 1967 by a group of French parents and teachers to provide a total immersion French education program adhering to the highly respected curriculum of France’s national education system. Classes were originally held in the basement of the Orthodox Church on Geary Street, then in its early years at U.C. Extension, at Fort Mason, and eventually in our own building on Balboa Street (until we outgrew it). In 1986, The French School of Marin merged with the Lyce, adding a Marin County campus with Preschool through 5th grade. In 1995 Lyce Franais La Prouse purchased the building at 755 Ashbury Street in San Francisco, where we now have our administrative headquarters and offer Preschool through 12th grade. There are currently more than 880 students on three campuses (one in in Marin and two in San Francisco). Lyce Franais La Prouse is fully accredited in the U.S. Our students earn an American high school diploma, as well as prepare for the French Baccalaurat which qualifies them to attend European universities.
