SFUSD - John Mc Laren Child Development Center Preschool

John McLaren Child Development Center is a licensed, full-time Monday through Friday, year-round program. The center specializes in comprehensive developmental and family support services. The center provides full day services for pre-school children, and before and after school services for the school age students during school days. On based on a sliding scale. The site philosophy is based on taking care of the whole child. Thus, we work with Social Workers, Mental Health Consultants and health professionals, in meeting the needs of the children. We provide a secure, nurturing environment and stimulation toward the optimum growth of the children. We provide a healthy balance of large and small mUSCle activities, indoor and outdoor play, cognitive and social learning, quiet and active time, and a good nutritious food and adequate rest. John McLaren is a literacy-based center and uses the Letter People curriculum for the Preschool children and Kidzlit curriculum for the school-age children. Other literacy enrichment programs used by the site include: Bookmobile, KQED First Book program and Raising a Reader program.
