10th Street Preschool, established in 1992, is founded on the profound belief that young children learn best when allowed to engage in meaningful play in mixed-age groupings. Our environment is safe, nurturing, optimally stimulating and constantly evolving. All areas of learning are carefully and creatively integrated into our curriculum to facilitate play that is relevant and developmentally age appropriate.
We encourage self-reliance, high-spirited expression, curiosity and imaginative play. We believe that the friendships and camaraderie enjoyed during these magical Preschool years help children feel validated and acutely aware of their equality and shared destiny.
10th Street Preschool strives to provide an environment that is culturally, racially, ethnically and economically diverse. Our inclusive policy applies to admission, staff hiring and our scholarship program. We are nonsectarian and non-partisan. Our first accreditation was in 1995.

Socioemotional skills and adjustment to the environment build the critical foundation for a childs well being and learning. In simple terms, children need to feel confident and competent to master the daily developmental challenges they face. A child who is not happy is less likely to get involved with activities and peers, and may thus have limited opportunities for important learning experiences.
