In 1993 the first licensed home-based Child Zone began. At 22 years of age I knew that the type of learning program I would be teaching was going to be different. I wanted the children to learn structure culture direction respect dreams confidence and rules of our classroom. But most importantly to learn by having fun. Of course for some children they need to learn to have fun! I wanted our days to be filled with playing learning and laughter. That’s how we all learn best. By doing. Not reading and/or watching.
My dreams all came true and the children were my fuel to keep expanding to touch more lives and families. We now work with high-scope and hands-on learning philosophies along with my added ingredients to make up the perfect blend of the elite early childhood program. In 1994 I incorporated basic foreign language and sign language a stronger emphasis on art/music/literacy and really teaching the children the importance of healthy habits (hand washing exercise snacks etc.). This has worked very well for our programs so well that many other daycares have implemented our teaching methods and curriculum. Child Zone expanded in 2000 with another licensed in-home location and then in 2002 we opened our first commercial location (licensed for 60 children). In the meantime we have combined our two in-home locations into one home that is located on 10 acres of fun and learning. This is where our swim program is offered. The fall of 2006 our second commercial location (licensed for 100) was available to enrich more children and families. My focus has been to keep a personal and family setting whether it’s at an in-home based or commerical location. Over the last 19 years of working in the child card field I have decided I would never license a facility with over 100 children. My reason behind this decision was to ensure the best capable personal relationships among teachers children and our parents as well as having the ability to provide the best learning evironment for the children in our centers. In designing my newest addition to the Child Zone family our 7000 square foot facility could have held up to 160 children. However we will only be licensed for 100. When I was designing the layout I wanted this facility specifically FOR THE CHILDREN. I wanted to have a kitchen big enough to have the kids come in and work on cooking projects. The infant room is capable of holding eight infants. However I only want to have six in each room. The bathrooms are roomy hallways are wide and my office is roomy enough to be able to comfort a child interview families and whatever else we may need it for.Want more information?
