At the JCC Early Childhood Center our aim is to nurture each childs natural curiosity, intelligence and enjoyment, as well as develop their Jewish identity. Warmth and affection are a constant companion throughout the day, as are stimulating learning experiences. We foster a spirit of togetherness and socialization influenced and inspired by our Jewish heritage and traditions. We pay keen attention to every childs unique needs and preferences.
Our child development program is founded on a variety of elements, including art, music, movement and cognitive skills. A developmental learning approach encourages children to be involved and discover things for themselves. At every opportunity, children are supported to explore, question, think and grow.
Cognitive Development teaches skills such as listening, thinking and responding. Language, math and science challenges are also offered at each childs own pace.
Emotional Development is promoted through the building of self-esteem and a sense of well being. Praise is given on an ongoing basis, as the children gain security in a loving environment.
Social Development skills are introduced and enhanced by playing, sharing and relating to others in a positive, constructive manner.
Physical Development is stimulated through exercises and activities designed to enhance both gross and fine motor development. Habits of good health are taught and reinforced.
Creative Development is fostered through activities that encourage the children to draw new ideas and expressions from within themselves. Creativity is a fundamental element of self-worth.
Jewish Customs and Ceremonies are explored and experienced through special Shabbat and holiday activities, as well as songs and stories and the introduction of Hebrew words.
