Preschool in Seattle, WA 98108
Children need to meet certain physical, cognitive, behavioral, and linguistic developmental milestones to be prepared for school. ReWA recognizes refugee and immigrant children face various barriers that can impact their development, including family environment, family trauma, parent education level, and level of acculturation. Parents often feel disconnected and unsupported by the mainstream child care programs due to language, cultural and religious barriers.
ReWAs Early Childhood Education program offers a rich and culturally appropriate curriculum that fosters learning and enables each child to gain skills and build competencies. The program has a nationally recognized child care center at ReWAs main site serving children from birth to three years of age and providing care for up to 25 children on a full time basis. Our preschool on Beacon Hill serves up to 104 children, ages 3 to 5. All sites offer the following features:
In additional, our preschool utilizes grants from the Washington States Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) and the City of Seattles Step Ahead program to provide free half-day preschool for qualified families. Our Early Childhood Education program offers morning and afternoon preschool classes and extended care in order to meet the needs of the community.
Each year, the Early Childhood Education Program serves more than 140 children from countries from around the globe, including Cambodia, China, Ethiopia, Laos, Mexico, the Philippines, Senegal, Somalia, the U.S., and Vietnam.
