St. Marks Cathedral Preschool aims to provide a joyful, enriching, and safe environment for the children in our care. We believe in nurturing the emotional, social, physical, sprititual, and cognitive growth of children by providing stimulating experiences in a loving and respectful environment. We place a strong emphasis on caring for each other and our envirnonment, and on being a part of a community.

We believe that children learn best when the curriculum is developed around the interests, learning styles, and developmental levels of those in the classroom community. Curriculum ideas may come from teachers or parents, as well as from the children. We believe that our most significant purpose is to help the children in our care to acquire and develop life skills and build foundations of experience on which they can grow. We integrate problem-solving, compromise and negotiation, community-building, self-confidence, and much more into the obvious curriculum areas of math, literacy, science, and and art. Our goal is to recognize the unique potential in each child. We honor the individual and celebrate the community.

We see ourselves in partnership with the family and believe that good communication between families and teachers is essential to the positive development of the child.
