St. Benedict’s Episcopal Day School is anchored in the worldwide traditions of the Episcopal Church whose mission is to nurture all of God’s children. We welcome students from all religious, ethnic and international backgrounds and value how this diversity expands our students’ knowledge of the world and energizes cross-cultural communication among our school, church, and supporting communities.
Students are nurtured as individuals with social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and academic needs. We strive always to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment, and our teacher and staff model the kind of responsible, respectful behavior expected of each child. This helps students become socially responsible and compassionate members of the world and increases their awareness and sensitivity to the needs of others.
Academic excellence leads our priorities at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Day School, together with good character education. We challenge all students to meet or exceed national and international academic standards through exploration, problem solving, and practice, and we help them learn and achieve in small supportive learning communities.
We believe that a well-rounded education includes traditional subjects, as well as foreign languages, world religion, physical education, art, music, and other enriching activities. Our students are encouraged to demonstrate comprehension and creativity in a variety of areas to foster their enthusiasm for life-long learning and to nurture their academic, physical, spiritual, and social development.
Effective communication is the key to our success. We believe all voices should be heard and respected, because every individual within our school community shares responsibility for high student achievement. Moreover, collaboration among staff and the active involvement of parents and community members, maximize the resources and support available to our young learners.
St. Benedict’s Episcopal Day School believes that by providing “a quality education with a world view,” we will enable our students to move beyond the boundaries of the classroom and broaden their horizons while learning that each person is cherished as a gift of God and an individual of great worth.
