We are proud to be housed in the historic home of the Dragons. In 1928 the Swartz Creek Community took a leap of futuristic faith to provide area children with a centrally located building to reinforce their commitment and value of education.

Swartz Creek Community Schools has prided itself with providing early childhood education since 1973. Our commitment to be your childs first school experience comes from decades of educational research that has proven that children who attend early childhood programs are tomorrows scholars. We stand firm on our promise to educate Swartz Creeks littlest dragons and lead them into a future of lifelong learning. We not only welcome you to our district but to the family of Swartz Creek that has provided quality education for generations.

Preschool is an educational program for children three to four years of age. The program develops the habits attitudes and skills that provide readiness for pre kindergarten. Children will learn basic preschool concepts as well as socialization skills. The children are encouraged to be actively involved in the learning process supported by adults to learn at their own level. Preschool is taught by a teacher which holds a Child Development Associate credentials.

Pre-Kindergarten & Great Starts Readiness Programs are taught by Elementary Certified teachers ZA endorsed with MLPP (Michigan Literacy Planned Program) training. Both Pre-Kindergarten and Great Starts is designed specifically for children who are eligible to enter kindergarten or an early 5’s program the following year. Emergent skills in reading math and science are learned during this necessary year. In addition children will explore the world by observing listening searching moving their bodies touching smelling handling and making things happen with the objects around them. Active learning is a natural process where teachers create the conditions that make learning possible. Through exploration learning takes place and children learn at their level. Developmentally appropriate activities encourage children to learn and communicate in both oral and written form their own interests and activities and develop their readiness for kindergarten. Children will be introduced to reading math and science skills that will encourage life long learning in these areas. Our goal is that children will be “kindergarten ready” by the completion of a full year in Pre-Kindergarten.
