The Martin House Learning Center seeks to complement the local schools in achieving our common goal of educating the children of the Wilbur Section. For us this means achieving a high school diploma.
The Martin House Learning Center has five major goals:
1. To provide a safe environment for children to allow them to escape the “after school” violence and intimidation of gangs. 2. To motivate children to do well in school by emphasizing the value of an education to parents and students by working to counter the stigma associated with “doing well in school” 3. To provide instruction, academic support, remedial help, extracurricular activities and special events aimed at adolescents and teenagers to promote their intellectual and emotional growth. 4. To help students of all ages graduate from High School and become more productive members of society though education. 5. To provide a gathering place for community meetings, special events, and individual celebrations.
