Program Philosophy Wakefield-Marenisco Great Start Readiness Program believes that all children have the right to an equal start in their school career. We believe that a preschool program should provide developmentally appropriate activities for four-year-old children and be implemented with attention to the individual needs and differences of the children enrolled We also believe that parents are the child’s first teacher and encourage their involvement in all aspects of the school program. Goals for the children in our program 1. To develop a positive and healthy self-concept 2. To help the child establish himself away from home 3. To form close home/school relationships 4. To broaden the child’s growth in cognitive physical emotional and social areas by providing a variety of experiences. 5. To provide a positive attitude for later and more formal education 6. To provide a multi-cultural multi-ethnic non-sexist curriculum.
