Fremont Street Nursery

Provides childcare for the working parents of the City of Winchester, Frederick and Clarke and Warren County. Fremont Nursery currently serves children ages 6 weeks-12 years of age, Monday-Friday from 6:30AM to 5:30 PM. Fremont also provides care for school age children before and after school. The children are fed, on site by a certified cook, a nutritional breakfast, lunch and snack as per regulations set by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services for Child Care Centers. We provide services based on the individual families annual household income which is determined by the most recent tax return at time of enrollment. Each year the tax return is requested to follow-up. Our current rates are $60-$165 per week. Scholarships are offered providing the families meet the criteria provided by the Board of Directors and availability of funds. Another very important service our center provides, is to ready our preschoolers for kindergarten. This process is done assessing our children’s development twice a year with the Learing Accomplishment Profile (LAP) and providing a daily planned curriculum. The LAP process assesses each child in the areas of Language, Pre-writing, Cognitive, Personal/Social, Gross and Fine Motor Skills. We then can work on any weaknesses a child may have and if the weakness is too severe or in need of a more specialized service we can then refer our families to another agency in Winchester. Our staff exceeds thee mandatory state licensing training and all the teachers are certified in First Aid, CPR, Medicine Administation and have their Child Development Associate credential(CDA).
