Our preschool provides a rich educational program to promote SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SPIRITUAL COGNITIVE AND PHYSICAL growth of children who are 2 2 3 and 4 years old.
SPIRITUAL GROWTH is developed through our Chapel lessons in the Church. These lessons involve the telling of Bible stories teaching of good moral values the singing of songs and the understanding that God loves them. As a church-affiliated school our teachings are supportive of Christian values of sharing helping concern for others and an appreciation of Gods world. Parents will come to recognize the school and church as a help in nurturing their childrens spiritual growth.
The IMPORTANCE OF PLAY and free activity in early childhood education is recognized and emphasized. We believe a childs most important work is play. It is through their own imaginative reenactment that children learn to cope with the real world. Social interaction and teamwork develop from working out conflicts and helping each other find ways to do so.
COGNITIVE SKILLS are encouraged under quiet supervision in the classroom and on the playground. Unstructured and structured activities contribute to each childs growth as an individual and as a member of a peer group. Through games creative activities stories and songs children are readied for Kindergarten. Students are exposed to shapes colors numbers and letters some beginning sounds and writing their names. Heavy emphasis is not placed on assimilating these skills. We are sensitive to the fact that children develop at different speeds and we encourage and expect children to respond differently as new experiences and skills are introduced. As is true of life some will pick up immediately what others may take longer to assimilate.
BUILDING A STRONG POSITIVE SELF-IMAGE is important to every childs growth as a person. At preschool we learn to recognize and cope with all emotions in self and others through stories puppets and play. We learn to listen and to follow directions. We learn self-reliance but also how to work together and share. Above all it is important that we enjoy the time spent in preschool and feel motivated to learn.
