Why Woodland Hills Private School
A caring, loving, and natural environment. Children develop a strong academic foundation. Creative and individualized program helps each child achieve their goals and enables them to move to the next level with confidence and builds self-esteem. WHPS sets high expectations socially, emotionally and academically. A real world approach to education. Credentialed and certified, our teachers are initiative and nurturing and are committed to providing the best education for your children. Small classes and low student/teacher ratio (usually 20:2 in Kgn. & Elem, 15-20:2 in Preschool) help develop close relationships and trust. Your child wont be lost in the crowd. Public schools are currently at 20:1 for grades K-3 and reports are that class size will be increasing. Upper grades in the public schools often have 30 40 students in a class with 1 teacher. Children take part in many community service activities, which helps them to develop into responsible, caring and respectful citizens. Our regular Kgn. & Elementary curriculum always includes classes in art, music, physical education, computer, foreign language and barnyard. The Preschool curriculum includes music at the Collins Campus and barnyard at the Oxnard Campus. All these programs are taught by specialists. The Kgn. & Elementary academic school year is 42 weeks long not just 39 weeks, which allows us the time to do many special events and activities. We are sensitive to the needs of working parents. A before and after school extended day program is available and WHPS only closes for national holidays. Afternoon extended care program includes a full program of activities as well as a Homework Club for Kgn. & Elementary students. WHPS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). We are regularly monitored by this agency, which helps us to maintain a very high quality program. WHPS was the recipient of the 2007 R.O.S.E. award Recognizing Outstanding Schools in Education. WHPS has a strong Character Values Education program integrated into the curriculum. In addition, WHPS sponsors a Student Council that further enhances its leadership and character building program. We welcome parent involvement. WHPS has a very active Parent Association, which supports our school events and provides many additional enrichment activities for the children. WHPS is accountable to our families and is responsive to parents and their concerns. We provide placement services for our graduates. We will have conferences with you to assist you and your child in finding the best match school. All our graduates have been accepted into the school of their choice.Want more information?
