Preschool in Youngstown, OH 44502
The early care and education services we provide includes:
•Infant & Toddler — Young children 6 weeks through 36 months are enrolled in our infant & toddler program. This program includes two classrooms, one for infants (6 weeks through 18 months) and one for toddlers (18-36 months). Each room is staffed by a lead teacher. Both staff members have received specialized training in child growth and development and have earned a CDA (Child Development Associate) in infant and toddler care & education. We follow Ohio’s Infant and Toddler Guidelines, a guide for programs to use to assure that all children have “responsive, reciprocal, and respectful care” to prepare them for school and life! We focus on 6 areas of development: Physical Health, Emotional, Social, Motor, Language & Communication, and Cognitive Development. We use a developmental screening, Ages & Stages Questionnaire, with each infant and toddler to determine the individual needs.
•Preschool — Children ages 3 to 5 years old are enrolled in our preschool program. There are 2 classrooms on site; each has a lead teacher and an assistant. All lead teachers have college degrees in the field of education. All preschool staff have received specialized training in implementing the state’s Early Learning Content Standards. These early learning guidelines were developed to provide a framework for preschool and child care programs to better meet the educational needs of children ages 3 to 5 years. The guidelines are aligned with the K-12 standards, those followed by the public school districts. Other educational tools we use to improve the developmental and academic outcomes of our children include the use of the Creative Curriculum as well as developmental assessments (Brigance & Galileo). As in the infant & toddler room, we focus on all areas of development including Physical Health, Emotional, Social, Motor, Language & Communication, and Cognitive Development. Our main goal is to prepare the child to enter kindergarten.
Our programs include full and half day options. Daily activities are educational, and the curriculum is driven by developmentally appropriate practices to meet each child’s developmental needs. Meals and snacks are provided. Tuition assistance from community partner programs is available to qualified families. We enroll all children; each classroom is inclusive. Children with special needs or delays can receive on-site therapy (speech, occupational, and physical therapy) while in the program. Hours of operation are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please contact us for our current rates or to find out if your child could qualify for subsidy.
Easter Seals Child Development Center is recognized as a provider of high quality early care and education through the following programs.
Step Up to Quality: Easter Seals Child Development Center has been named one of the star rated centers in the state of Ohio though the “Step Up To Quality” program. Only the top child care centers in Ohio receive this prestigious award. We received this award because of our overall commitment to quality and our excellent early care and education program. We offer a wonderful environment for children to grow and develop, and it is an honor to receive state recognition for our efforts. Among the special quality features that helped us win this award are the following:
• More teachers per child – this allows a teacher to spend more time with the children enrolled.
• More qualified teachers – more specialized training in early childhood development.
• A commitment to early learning through the use of curriculum, developmental screenings & assessments, and partnerships with key programs serving young children and their families. We also use Ohio’s Infant and Toddler Guidelines and Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards for infants through preschool.
• An outstanding work environment – paid staff benefits mean staff is treated professionally, which goes a long way in retaining good teachers for your child.
This award belongs to the parents and children as well. Their ideas and support have inspired us to bring a world of discovery and excitement to every child each and every day. Our goal is to build each child’s self-confidence, develop their social and emotional skills and instill a love for learning that will follow them the rest of their life!
