I’m school-trained in Mandarin Chinese (my college major), and I have spent a considerable amount of time living abroad in China, where I only spoke Mandarin on a daily basis. I have many Chinese friends. I am as close to a native speaker as one can find. My speech has very little difference from a native speaker.
