I love working with elementary and middle school age kids and have been a private tutor for the last eight years. I take pride in my ability to motivate and inspire young minds to get the most out of school and enjoy their time there. I employ a fun, yet firm, approach and will create or purchase any additional learning aids as needed. As good study habits are the key to success in school, I encourage my students to develop habits and routines that will serve them throughout life.

Christina L. from Sunnyvale, CA Tess is helping my son who is a 4th grader in reading and writing. She is a patient tutor. She reviews the vocabulary words with him over and over again. She reviews the writing assignment at her personal time so that she can spend more time to read with him. She also teaches him to create a model for a school project that I am very impressed by. She is very responsive when I have questions and concerns. She comes up with a plan to help him improve his writing and reading comprehension, and I look forward for his improvements in the near future.
Victor E. from San Jose, CA Tess has been one of the best tutors I have ever had. She was very helpful and patient. Everything went well, she was right on time with our appointment and was very nice. I would recommend this tutor to anyone who needs help.
Kavitha R. from San Jose, CA I have found Tess to be patient, willing to listen and be well prepared for her session. I liked the fact that she was willing to learn from things that did not go well in the session and modify it for the next session. Overall a great tutor.
Day R. from San Jose, CA I was a student of Miss Tess. I'm in 3rd grade and I needed help on math and so she helped me by doing some games withe me and flash cards. She made it fun and interesting and now my cousin has her as a tutor and he's in high school.
Michi L. from San Jose, CA Tess has been tutoring my son in 5th grade math. She was able to assess where his problem areas were and is helping him to strengthen those areas. In the beginning, she got in touch with my son's teacher to get her input on what he needed to focus on. Every time, Tess arrives promptly, ready and excited to work with my son. Her energy is great for kids because she makes it seem more like fun than work. She also brings her own material to work with in addition to any you may want to provide. She finds creative ways and little tricks to convey the concepts she's teaching. Tess is not a clock watcher. She cares more about accomplishing the tasks she set forth for that day. Since math only gets more complicated from here on, it's important to make sure his foundation is solid. I'm happy to have Tess continue working with him to do that.
Cheri N. from San Jose, CA After giving this a trial period we were of the opinion that she did not have as much experience as was stated working with learning differences, preparing lesson plans, and listening to the parents and child?s educational needs. Please check out the educational web sites that are used and recommended by your tutor before they are viewed by your child. You might disagree that they are educationally appropriate for your child's situation.
DeeDee S. from Sunnyvale, CA Tess is the perfect balance of calm, supportive, thorough, focused, and fun! When she is working with our son, who is 9 years old and in the third grade, she keeps him going on school work for an hour or longer, which is not an easy task, since is easily distracted and wants to try to get through his work quickly. He looks forward to his time with Tess and wants to talk to her about things he is doing (baseball) or things he is proud of. Her cheerful way works well with him, but she can be firm when he gets too off-track or silly. We feel it is time and money well spent. Our son is getting extra reading and writing help and building a solid relationship with someone who explains to him that learning and practicing are very important for his future.
Philippe C. from Saratoga, CA Tess knows how to make her students comfortable and makes learning enjoyable. Our son really likes working with her
Claudine B. from Morgan Hill, CA Tess has been helping my son for several months now. His writing has improved so much. Tess is extremely patient and has a wonderful sense of humor. My son is in 4th grade and has ADD. Tess has really been able to help him to focus more. His teacher has mentioned that he's improved a lot in class. I highly recommend Tess for tutoring. She's very kind, and has very creative ideas to keep her students motivated and involved. I give Tess an A+ rating!
Brenda P. from Santa Clara, CA Tess is an excellent tutor. She clearly loves to help kids learn; she is very enthusiastic. She is very resourceful when it comes to finding ways to interest my highly distractible son. Many times she motivates him by having an art activity as a reward for getting work done. I highly recommend her.
Sandra R. from Santa Clara, CA Tess worked with our son for 6 months in English and in Math for 6th grade. She had a very creative approach, leveraging her multiple talents that made learning fun and helped motivate our son to learn. From a results perspective, she helped him improve over 20% in the percentiles in a test he was doing. He was very happy with that. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Tess to any family whose children need tutoring help.
