I currently own and operate several different businesses, but my favorite one is tutoring. In fact, I speak 5 different languages in varying degrees of fluency, but I prefer to teach French because it is the language in which I am most comfortable. I was fortunate enough to spend 2 years in France, first in a small village in Brittany, where I attended a French High school, and secondly, in Paris, where I was able to perfect my language abilities. Today, some 20+ years later, I have still re…
Testimonials
Tom H. from Alexandria, VA Elaine has a special gift for teaching foreign languages. She is a true polyglot. My son benefited enormously from her tutoring in French. Thanks for your patience. Have a great summer.
Denny O. from Alexandria, VA I've only taken one class with her so far. Despite this, I am absolutely pleased to say, she is more than qualified as a tutor with her plethora of fluent dialect. I extremely pleased to say, I will not only gain mastery in German grammar but its complex dialect structure as well! Thanks Frau! I hope to continue these spectacular lessons!
Iliyana M. from Fairfax, VA Elaine is an extremely knowledgeable, passionate instructor and I am very grateful I found her through WyzAnt. Elaine took the time during our first session to understand my learning needs and expectations and works diligently each time to satisfy these needs. She offers her professional advice on other areas of learning we could pursue to make each session very effective. For example, my personal goal was to increase my vocabulary, but she also recommended that we can focus on pronunciation and the accent, given that I am an ESOL speaker. I am very impressed by her fluent and professional knowledge of several languages. Elaine is a very patient and flexible teacher, who puts her students at ease. She also has a great sense of humor, which I always find very important for the learning process. Given that I have already had 8 sessions with Elaine and my extreme satisfaction with the level of learning, I would strongly recommend Elaine as a language tutor/instructor. I look forward to each of my sessions with Elaine and feel I am making substantial learning progress.
Jela B. from Alexandria, VA I have had two sessions with Elaine and she has been a great help with my ESL problems. She is very good at explaining the rules of English and has helped me improve the quality of my schoolwork.
Ana Maria G. from Vienna, VA I have been working with Elaine as my ESL tutor for more than a year now. She is absolutely excellent and has helped me a lot with my writing, editing and composition skills. She has a wonderful sense of humor and I always look forward to our time together. We have concentrated mainly on the projects I need to do for work, which require me to explain information to other people on my team. The way we do this is I write it first and then Elaine suggests ways to make it better. She always has great ideas and I have learned so much since I first started with her. I study vocabulary words too which will help me in my career and Elaine patiently explains the words to me and then asks me to write sentences using them. I keep all of the new words on index cards so that I can study them later on. I have had tutors in the past but never someone who is as patient and dedicated about helping students make as much progress as possible. If you are serious about improving your English, I would really recommend you to call her, She will be happy to help you, too.
Alexis B. from Vienna, VA Elaine is tutoring our elementary school aged daughter in Italian as we prepare for travel abroad. Her approach to teaching her is very logical and methodical - my daughter enjoys her lessons and says she teaches her in fun ways. Our daughter says her lessons also help with her Spanish classes at school.
Maureen G. from Boston, MA Speaking for myself (Jack) I was much more interested in the second lesson than I was for the first. Beginning to understand the personal pronouns and the verb endings that relate to the person speaking makes some sense. Realizing that I really have to open my mouth to correctly pronounce the Italian words also makes sense. Elaine's stressing the memorization of how to conjugate the "regular" verbs also makes sense. And her stressing the importance of knowing the numbers also made an impression on me. When I began to listen to the audio lessons in the car I thought I'd never be able to learn this language, but I am becoming confident that I'll be able to "get by" in most instances. Moreover I'm looking forward to the next lesson.
Mirko M. from Cape Coral, FL She knows so much about languages! ESL, French, Spanish, Italian, even Japanese - no problem! She puts the emphasis particularly on the correct pronunciation and vocab development. She is very experienced, very patient, knows how to explain well, quality of the teaching is simply tremendous! Additionally, she knows how to motivate and support the student. During the last 6 weeks I could successfully sharpen my overall language skills, especially the pronunciation of some complex sentences containing distinctive idiomatic dialogues and expressions. So, she is simply brilliant! Thank you very, very much for your help, Elaine. You are my best friend now. And I hope, I'll see you soon again!
