Hello, I’m Xin! I am a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and am based in the Baltimore area. I can’t wait to help you with your musical dreams. I am available for in-home, in-studio, and online lessons worldwide.
I have been studying classical horn playing for 10 years and can teach beginning trumpet as well. i can also teach natural horn and audition readiness. I enjoy having a varied studio and am inspired every day by my students’ love for horn playing.

Professional Biography——
Xin H. is a freelance horn player based in Baltimore, Maryland. She has recently graduated with her BM in Horn Performance from the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of Professor Peter Kurau and studied under Adjunct Professor Maura McCune-Corvington as well. In addition, she has studied under Larry Williams, Philip Munds, and Anneka Zuehlke. While at Eastman, she was Principal Horn on pieces such as Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony and was invited on the 2020 Eastman Philharmonia China Tour.
Xin has performed with groups such as Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra as a substitute musician and the Eastman Philharmonia. She has been a fellow at the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, and Tanglewood Music Festival in 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively and will be returning to TMC in 2021. In Winter 2020, she participated in the 52nd annual New York String Orchestra Seminar. She is also a passionate chamber musician, having performed with groups such as the Eastman Brass Guild, Sarasota Music Festival Chamber Orchestra, and various other small chamber groups. In November 2020, she was invited to perform for the MET Opera Orchestra Horn Masterclass.
Her teaching experience includes maintaining a private studio of students ranging from the ages of 9 to 55 and has taught complete beginners who have never touched a brass instrument in their lives to advanced students to trumpet students. She has experience teaching beginner trumpet players as well. She is also a Substitute Teaching Artist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids program, a program modeled after El Sistema that brings music education to inner-city students, and has experience teaching and coaching brass groups.
In addition to horn playing, Xin is very passionate about rabbits, and is dedicated to rabbit rescue, fostering, and rehabilitation and is experienced in special-needs animals. She also enjoys cooking and especially baking and has been raising a 200+ year old sourdough starter that originated in San Francisco.
