As a cellist with 20 years experience on my instrument, I take a less traditional approach having performed at renowned venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Archive, Hungry Brain, and Elastic Arts. I am active in the improvisation, jazz, “New” music, and DIY music scenes in the city of Chicago, using my classical training as a foundation for performance and teaching in all genres and styles of music.
In high school, I was a participant in the MYAC Symphony Orchestra, ILMEA Orchestra, and was section leader my junior and senior years playing for the school Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and pit orchestra. After graduating high school, I continued to playing in orchestra with the Roosevelt University CCPA Symphony.
With a Bachelor’s in Audio Arts and Acoustics from Columbia College Chicago, I have learned to take a different approach to music that is more engaging and interactive, making learning fun for the students while still meeting their needs to build a solid foundation. I often record students in lessons so that they can hear their own progress over time and be aware of their overall sound from an external perspective.
