After a 22 year career in the US Coast Guard, I pursued my second “bucket list” career, teaching high school mathematics. I taught for 7 years in the New Orleans area until Hurricane Katrina, then moved to Florida where I taught another 6 years.

Classrooms are a “one size fits all” approach that obviously doesn’t work for everyone. We all learn in our own way and at own own pace. I enjoy coming up with different approaches to explain the same concept until I see the "light come on…
