English Major/Counselor/Attorney/Successful Test-Taker

Having recently retired after four years as the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of a Michigan county, I am again turning my focus on working with individuals to aid them in current and future academic and career success. Ian M. from Port Huron, MI My 20 year old son has been preparing to re-take the SAT this Saturday (1/26/2013) in hopes to achieve the required score to be cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Meeting this requirement will allow for him to receive his Scholarship and to be eligible to play Division 1 Hockey. The past 2 years my son has been playing Junior Level hockey in the NAHL while taking community college courses part time. Preparing for this test required that he refine his study and comprehension skills which was a struggle to do on his own. Our tutor has been able to identify the weaknesses in comprehension as well as provide solid study habit suggestions so that he could prepare for a test which he should have taken 4 years ago. We are hopeful that he will meet the score required but if not would plan to retake the test in March and continue to use our tutor for additional sessions. Regardless, my son feels that the comprehension and study skill training will benefit him next year when he is a full time college student.
