They spent time going over his social studies chapter review homework, and Margaret answered all of his questions with interesting input. Together, they started a new reading book, and she worked with my son to understand the information in the story. She had my son break the chapter into manageable pieces, and they discussed each part, had him draw or "see" images to help him remember what he read, and encouraged him to "become" the main character in the story. Margaret was patient and friendly but she told my daughter that her homework was correct when it fact, it was wrong. Additionally, she has to "research" how to solve many of the equations and refers us to Khan Academy - I can give my daughter this kind of assistance at home. I am sure she would be great for younger kids with basic math or pre algebra, but she does not seem to have the background or expertise to tutor advanced algebra.
