Hello! I am excited to have this opportunity to assist students towards a better understanding of subjects and to bring out their self-confidence. I have been involved in educating students of all ages in Art, Math, Reading, Computers and other subjects since 1989.
As a volunteer at an after school program, for a private school, I have seen a tremendous growth in each student’s knowledge and subject understanding.
As I saw my own child suffering in school I joined the millions of parents…
Testimonials
Abbi B. from Morgan Hill, CA You will be in good hands if you choose Margaret as a computer tutor! I asked her about many different applications that are being used in my work. She was up to speed on all and able to show me how to use the last program that I had not really asked her too much about when we made the appointment. We are continuing to work on other applications in the coming weeks.
Shannon H. from Salinas, CA Margaret has been a huge asset to our family. We are home-schooling my 6 year old with ADHD and ODD. Margaret has brought a wealth of experience in educating special needs children. She is extremely patient, clever and flexible. She has a wonderful energy about her, is full of ingenuity, and never becomes frustrated or negative no matter how difficult my son becomes. I just can't say enough, we're so grateful to have her on our team!!
Molly M. from Gilroy, CA Margaret G worked with my daughter for about 6 weeks, and she, her teacher and us saw a noticeable improvement in her school work and grades. Margaret has a way of explaining concepts that really makes sense and she makes it fun!
Celia M. from Gilroy, CA I was amazed with the technique Margaret used to help my daughter, which was in essence very motivating for our daughter. Margaret and our daughter sat down for discussion, gaining knowledge about her on a more personal level, so as to create a one-on-one for better understanding and applying it creatively. This helped enhance our daughter's learning experience with Margaret through her discussion and unique teaching sessions. As our daughter put it, "it wasn't so boring, like in our school class because she included some of the things I liked into the project we did together". We will highly recommend our tutor to anyone who inquires!
Laurel L. from Gilroy, CA My 13 year old son wasn't too sure about going to a tutor, but as soon as he found out he and Margaret had XBOX, and gaming in common... well, he thinks she's pretty "cool"! They spent time going over his social studies chapter review homework, and Margaret answered all of his questions with interesting input. Together, they started a new reading book, and she worked with my son to understand the information in the story. She had my son break the chapter into manageable pieces, and they discussed each part, had him draw or "see" images to help him remember what he read, and encouraged him to "become" the main character in the story. We look forward to more tutoring sessions with Margaret!
Darryl S. from Morgan Hill, CA Margaret has been working with my granddaughter who has ADHD. Her techniques have allowed my granddaughter to understand the material while gain confidence in her abilities. Margaret always provides updates after each session and responds quickly to personal emails. I would recommend her to anyone. Thanks Margaret, Great Job!!
Melissa K. from Gilroy, CA Thank you Margaret - Margaret has been working with my son since the end of January 2013. She shows a nice balance of professionalism and sincere heartfelt care. Since his 1st grade year, my son's learning, lack of focus and motivation has, (I hate to admit it, but have to believe that in the sea of parents out there, I'm not alone.) baffled and frustrated me. He is now entering 7th grade. His schooling and keeping him on track has been my second full time job. I know he is bright and I know he has the cognitive ability to do well in school. My stress has been that he doesn't show it. He's always had a tutor, but never one he connected with, never a tutor who actually understood him. Last January, I found WyzAnt, then found Margaret and what a blessing this has been! Margaret understands this son of mine and will present material in such a way that he is motivated to lean it. She has confirmed my belief in his intelligence, his ability to learn and continues to do so. She is, also, inspiring my son to believe in himself as he is now seeing that he can do the work - He can understand the material. His self-confidence is developing; with Margaret's continued help, and genuine heartfelt care I just know he will have a successful 7th grade year. I honestly can't say, "Thank you" enough!
Hernan M. from Gilroy, CA I just want to thank her so much for making it possible for me to achieve my goal. I highly recommend Margaret G. for anyone who is looking for a tutor who does not only have the patients and knowledge, but also someone who loves to teach and help others. Thank you Margaret for working around my busy schedule and, most of all, for believing in me. I got my High School Equivalency Certificate (GED), and I couldn't have done it without you. I'm looking toward to working with you again.
Kimberly M. from Gilroy, CA My daughter is having difficulty in Advanced Algebra 1. Margaret was patient and friendly but she told my daughter that her homework was correct when it fact, it was wrong. Additionally, she has to "research" how to solve many of the equations and refers us to Khan Academy - I can give my daughter this kind of assistance at home. I am sure she would be great for younger kids with basic math or pre algebra, but she does not seem to have the background or expertise to tutor advanced algebra.
