Hardworking tutor in: ACT Reading / ACT English / Writing
My focus will be on ACT reading, ACT English, AP English, writing, grammar, vocabulary, AP History, social studies and government including the Constitution. I was a state of Illinois certified teacher. I am a student oriented person who likes to work with students one-on-one or in a group. I let the parents and students tell me what they need me to do. My job will be to identify where the student is having difficulty and then help the student succeed.
I am available to tutor almost any time…
Testimonials
Gowri N. from Schaumburg, IL My son likes him a lot. I am glad I found the right teacher for him. Looking forward for many more sessions.
Darrell Y. from Hoffman Estates, IL John F. did a very good job of putting our daughter at ease, helping to get the most effective use of the time spent. He was able to tailor his vast experience to her learning style, while pointing out different ways to take in the information. He did not tell her the answers and taught how to apply the techniques in the future. Best of all the end result was improved letter grade and skills that she could apply going forward. He was easy to work with to set up appointments and timely with his responses. We will use his services again and recommend John to others.
Smita P. from Bartlett, IL John is a really great tutor. He reviewed some of my papers. He put his best efforts toward my work. He is very nice person and he really has an understanding nature.
Felipe M. from Lombard, IL John takes great interest on what he is teaching. He is helping me on pronunciation skills, which is a hard task. After so many years of mistaken sounds I need of John's patience and encouragement to succeed. He provides both of them in large quantities.
Stephanie H. from Buffalo Grove, IL My son is very comfortable working with John. He is very helpful and willing to go the extra mile. John has been working with his reading and helping him decode difficult vocabulary words by making a word list in his notebook. Also, when he did his social studies reading, he went in details to talk about the different battles which my son enjoyed and also went out of his way to show where the historical battle events took place on the internet map. He is working with my son on his writing now and breaking down on how to make his writing better. And another plus is after his homework tutor, John teaches guitar lessons so this makes it very convenient for us. He was very helpful and thoughtful by going the extra mile to get the stuff that we needed for their first guitar lessons. Overall, John is a very knowledgeable teacher, patient, and very good at explaining the materials to my son. He is very flexible with his schedules that we meet with him every Saturday. I am lucky to have found this website and picked John as the first tutor.

John has given my son a different approach to help him with his reading on the ACT. He is very patient and has a great sense of humor which makes the sessions more fun. You learn a lot without getting bored! He not only is very knowledgeable but also very responsible person. Estela S. from Lombard, IL John is a fantastic tutor. He is very patient and understands what his students are struggling with. I?d recommend John to anybody looking to improve their results in the ACT Reading and English Writing.
Andrew S. from Lisle, IL John is excellent at encouragement and positive reinforcement. Although there was a little miscommunication about the left-knee-bend element of my swing at the beginning of the lesson, all the other techniques were easy to understand from that point forward. Whenever I had a question to clarify an element of technique, John was good at clarifying the technique with a specific answer. John had a nice balance between letting me just swing for a while and knowing when to jump in and suggest a technique correction. When I made a bad shot, he would let me know what element of my technique produced that bad shot so I could connect my lapse in technique to that specific type of bad shot. John also had a good suggestion about having "one swing thought" every time I swung. This was a useful suggestion because it kept me focused on swinging properly without giving me too many aspects of technique to focus on at once.
Yang C. from Oak Brook, IL Very patient and very experienced! John is working with my son to improve his writing. I think he tackles the problem from the correct angle.
Jen P. from Woodridge, IL Very knowledgeable tutor who is patient, encouraging and humorous! He individualizes the sessions to your personal goals. He really enjoys what he does!
Sharon S. from Bartlett, IL John has done a great job in helping my son believe that he can achieve much higher scores and get motivated to focus his attention on preparing diligently for the ACT. I would recommend John to anyone looking to raise their test scores in the Reading section of the ACT.
