Although there was a little miscommunication about the left-knee-bend element of my swing at the beginning of the lesson, all the other techniques were easy to understand from that point forward. Whenever I had a question to clarify an element of technique, John was good at clarifying the technique with a specific answer. John had a nice balance between letting me just swing for a while and knowing when to jump in and suggest a technique correction. When I made a bad shot, he would let me know what element of my technique produced that bad shot so I could connect my lapse in technique to that specific type of bad shot. John also had a good suggestion about having "one swing thought" every time I swung. This was a useful suggestion because it kept me focused on swinging properly without giving me too many aspects of technique to focus on at once.
