Students are not vessels to be filled; they are candles to be lit.
I am a special educator, life coach, and former school principal. I have tutored for school districts and families, and have taught students from first grade through graduate school. I love teaching one-on-one; lessons are always tailored to each student to maximize learning and fun. Testimonials
Chyrl M. from Gulf Breeze, FL We have just had our first tutoring session with Mary Jo and we could not be more pleased. She has gone well above and beyond to explore my child's needs. She spoke with her teacher personally and went to great lengths to understand her strengths and weaknesses and areas in need of improvement. I could not be more impressed. She is enthusiastic and patient. I can tell she loves children and has years of experience working with them. Additionally my daughter really enjoyed working with her!
Rebecca H. from Gulf Breeze, FL Mary Jo has tutored my daughter three times and so far, we have been very pleased. It can sometimes be a challenge getting my daughter to pay attention, but somehow Mary Jo has maintained her attention and managed to complete tasks in a third of the time that it usually takes my daughter. Mary Jo does not waste a minute of the tutoring time. First, she reviews with my daughter, then discusses what subject area needs immediate attention, then long term goals are discussed. Then, they get started. My daughter has great respect for Mary Jo and says she enjoys working with her and believes that she has helped her a great deal, so far. As far as grade improvement, my daughter has received two grades that represented improvement in troubled areas. It has been too soon to see other progress, other than improved confidence in my daughter. Thank you Mary Jo!
