I do believe that all ages of people learn best when they are having fun. I know I enjoy it more, and the client does too. I have worked in the Computer industry for over 20 yrs, and in all of that time I was developing and delivering courses to every age range, and every knowledge level. Have also worked in the Technical writing area, so essays are an area of specialty for me in teaching, a simple formula that always wins grades!
My favorite moment is when the student gets that look in th…
Testimonials
Martha B. from Houston, TX It was great to have Colleen as my brother's English teacher while he spent his summer vacation in Houston. She always looked for different ways to teach him English, improving his conversation skills either going to a museum or to a mall, reading books or magazines in order to improve his vocabulary. And, she was always very patient and kind. My brother improved a lot his English skills and of course had a better vacation because of Colleen's help. I definitely recommend her, she is an excellent teacher.
Uche O. from Spring, TX Colleen is a very patient and flexible tutor. She was a tutor for my colleague visiting from Argentina. She worked with him for three weeks and did not miss a class. She is friendly, down to earth, dedicated, punctual, and very flexible. Our schedules changed abruptly because of work, Colleen did not grumble or complain. She just changed her schedule to incorporate our changes. She was open to new ideas and incorporated it into her lesson plans. I will definitely use her as an English tutor any day. Thank you Colleen, we enjoyed working with you.
Johnnie T. from Spring, TX At first she seemed unconventional - she is and IT WORKS! When my child does not seem to be getting a concept Colleen is able to figure out another approach to show. When my child is distracted and 'just not into' the lesson, Colleen patiently pulls her attention back in. Lastly, she genuinely cares and scopes what is going on emotionally what may be causing mental blocks to learning. Colleen's gentle manor of making me aware of those blocks have been invaluable. The more I stay out of the way and let Colleen work, the more magic happens during the lesson.
Keri S. from Humble, TX We needed a tutor for our daughter who was struggling in Algebra, Biology, World History and English. Colleen was helpful in every subject so we didn't have to get a different tutor for each subject. We appreciated the help she gave our daughter and saw her grades come up tremendously. Colleen is funny, very sweet, very patient and very knowledgeable. We will definitely recommend her to our friends. A Big Thanks Colleen!!
Teresa B. from Spring, TX Colleen has a wonderful way about her. She is easy going and empowering. She takes the pressure off while still relaying that she wants your child to do well. She worked with my son on the SAT book. She told him how to best utilize some of the info within the SAT book. They worked on and examined how to best use prefixes and suffixes. Also, she covered some prime test taking skills, told him how to quickly organize passage info (by paragraph), and referred him to dictionary and worddynamo.com. Additionally, she worked with him on one passage sections and covered other material as well. I am very pleased with the first session and look forward to future sessions. 5/17- My son is definitely diligent in the new SAT vocabulary words. He spends time before tutoring sessions learning and reviewing different words. Ms. Colleen is working with him in the SAT passages which have been a bit of a challenge for him. He is feeling more confident in both areas. He is enjoying the reading materials as well and it is showing in his essays. He wants me and his father to read them. He is really feeling better about his reading and writing and I thank Ms. Colleen for this greatly. 5/25/13 Colleen has been wonderful. My son has his SAT this Saturday and he is sure to do well and much better than previous tests. We have both enjoyed her company and once again her teaching style is to be admired. She is passionate about certain subjects and this is infectious. She has an attitude that is very positive and inspiring. I am glad that he was tutored by Colleen and look forward to future sessions in the coming year. 6/1/2013- It is the big day June 1st for the SAT. I am more nervous than my son. He just left, but I know he will do well due to Colleen's prepping him for this day. Thank you Colleen from the bottom of my heart.
Stephanie M. from Kingwood, TX Colleen has a great way of helping my son reason through what the correct answer would be. I think he often panics on multiple choice questions and she is helping with this. Also, his writing has already gotten so much better after only 4 sessions. I am impressed!
Debbie S. from Humble, TX Colleen is just what the doctor ordered where my daughter is concerned. There is no doubt in my mind I chose the right person to teach my daughter. She's extremely patient with her and is willing to take her as far back as necessary in Math to make sure she has the foundation to tackle the tougher areas that she'll be teaching her in the future. We will be hanging on to her I'm sure until our daughter enters College and beyond.
