Kathy N. from Carlisle, PA First I will comment on the four criteria mentioned in your guidelines: - communication: Mark communicated to us quickly on initial contact and continues to do so on an ongoing basis. - professionalism: Mark presents himself in a casual but professional manner. He is very personable and engaging and as my son said, "not like a teacher at all", which is a compliment. Mark is also genuinely concerned that our son understands the lessons and does well. He called the evening our son took his first test because he couldn't wait to find out how he had done. He is very conscientious. - punctuality: Mark is always very punctual. Since our son is 18, he contacts him directly about the time that works best for him. Mind you, it has been Mark who has been extremely accessible and flexible to schedule lesson times to fit into our son's busy senior activities, not the other way around! Mark has even come on Sundays to accommodate our son, and directly from work without even having had time to eat dinner. - expertise: Mark attempted to gather information from our son prior to their first meeting about what he was studying so he could prepare for the first lesson. Mark admits that although he uses stats continuously in his professional life, it had been a long time since he had worked with some of the things they are doing in class. However, he came as prepared as possible because our son was not able to get prior info to him. The subsequent weeks, he has been ahead of his game. He also reviews tests with him and yesterday I even heard him helping our son try to project as to what may be on the test he was to take today. Forward thinking! The best endorsement of all: Our son has received an A on each of the 3 tests he's taken since Mark began tutoring him!
