Testimonials
Barbara B. from Citrus Heights, CA Michael is very patient, for one. He problem solves with you using different examples until you understand. Personally, I have a very tight schedule, so it was amazing how flexible Michael was in order to meet with me at least once a week. I am not the best at grasping material such as Chemistry, but Mike has a way of teaching that can completely steer you out of the dark. Great tutor. I would highly recommend.
Karen F. from El Dorado Hills, CA Michael is very patient and very focused on the task at hand. My son is comfortable learning from Michael, and the best part is he is making real progress that I can see more each day.
Robert L. from Folsom, CA Before you see the title and jump to quick conclusions, I want to tell you that this is without a doubt a true statement. I am not saying this because I have to, but I am saying this because I want to. I truthfully believe that my experience with Michael was one of the greatest, if not the greatest I've ever had. Allow me to explain. I am a good student with mostly As. I will be attending one of the top 10 schools on the US News and World Report National Universities List. I transferred schools senior year and went from an Advanced Placement program to an International Baccalaureate program. IB is rigorous, more highly regarded than AP by universities worldwide. Students have to know the facts and recite them without hesitation; no sugarcoating. There is an immense difference between the two, and I found myself struggling for the IB test when throughout my high school career I had been preparing for AP tests. I did the best that I could, but it wasn't as good as some of my peers who had been in the IB program for longer. My teacher gave me an ultimatum: do well on the final or he would fail me. I had been working hard since transferring and was preparing to leave for college. Suddenly everything felt unreachable. I had 5 days to the final, and luckily was able to spend all of them at home. I needed to act fast, and I contacted Michael. Michael understands everything in biology. I first talked to him and he was willing to drive to Citrus Heights to meet me halfway. He also was willing to come during the mornings to help me study. While the IB is very specific, his big picture application worked amazingly. That in conjunction with a few hours of fact memorization to contributed to very productive tutoring sessions. He often uses real-life examples to illustrate certain concepts, ones that stuck with me even during the final (ask him about diffusion!). He was able to explain everything without hesitation. Michael knows his biology, and it inspired me to work harder. Also, he is a super nice guy, one who I hope to see again in the near future. I remember many conversations we had, and I learned a lot about him. I only wish I knew him earlier! Yesterday I took the final. The final included multiple choice, data analysis, and several essays. I was weary walking in, but when I began I felt confident. Today the test was handed back, and I had one of the highest scores in the class. It bumped my grade way up overall. On an IB scale of 1-7 (7 being the highest), I got a 6. There were no 7s. My life was back on track. Michael helped me when I needed it, and the results should only serve to reinforce his amazing qualities as a tutor, a teacher, and a friend.
Debbie R. from Roseville, CA Michael is working with our daughter prepping for the SAT math portion of the test. He shows great knowledge and patience with her. She has had several tutors in math through her high school career and Michael is the BEST!!! She is very comfortable with him and she is feeling confident about her upcoming test!!!!
Cynthia K. from Auburn, CA Yesterday was a fantastic day for my son, after few weeks of tutoring, he said to me Mom "I feel really smart"!!! Mike your techniques are working! Your amazing! Thank you.
Angela G. from Grass Valley, CA Michael always provides useful and helpful math tutoring so I understand the concepts which enables me to successfully apply them. He personifies the word "patience" while I work through the problems; helping to keep me on-track and eliminating "simple" mistakes. He also has a calmness that helps prevent me from feeling overwhelmed when solving difficult math problems or learning new things.
Christy Y. from Antelope, CA Michael has done a great job with our high school sophomore in Geometry and Biology. He is very patient and great at giving our student the "big picture" and helping him to apply theory so is makes sense. He is also very flexible on session times and prompt in getting back to us by phone or email.
Sally H. from Granite Bay, CA Michael was an amazing biology and chemistry tutor for our child. He is very professional, dependable, and patient! He really cares about his students and goes out of his way to help them! I recommend Michael without hesitation!
Sage G. from Wilton, CA My daughter started algebra this year in 7th grade. We were a little apprehensive about this so we hired Michael to tutor her. He has been very helpful. He is friendly and patient. He works well with my daughter and she has gotten an A on every test!!! You can't beat that. Jan.2013. My daughter is the only student in her class to get 100% on her math final last semester and so far this semester she has 103% in her algebra class. That is from 100% on her test and also extra credit. Thanks Michael! Feb. 2013. My daughter continues to do well in algebra. Michael has been a great help. He is patient with her and she enjoys working with him very much. He has been able to work with us and my daughters very busy schedule.
Laura B. from Wheatland, CA Michael is always on time for our meetings, he is personable and very professional. He really knows his stuff!!! He definitely has a mathematical mind. He is a great teacher and a great person. He was patient with some tech difficulties from my school site. I would not be graduating this week if Michael was not there for me. I will miss him.
Deborah K. from Meadow Vista, CA Mike W. gets the "gold star" for his patience and knowledge. Responsive, committed and reliable tutor. We're keeping Mike's information handy for next year!
Gena S. from Citrus Heights, CA Michael has done such a wonderful job of helping my daughter with her Algebra 2 tutoring. Her teacher left an unfortunate number of gaps in her instruction, and Michael was not only able to get those filled in, he was also able to help her understand how to figure things out on her own, which gave her some sorely needed confidence. His calm and patient manner was a perfect match for her temperament, and he was so flexible with scheduling, which was great between my erratic work schedule and my daughter needing ore or less instruction. I'm really happy we found Michael; he's made a difficult school year better than I could have hoped for.
Coleen W. from Granite Bay, CA My son has auditory and multi-sensory processing disorders and is also ADHD. He was falling apart at the end of the school year as he was overwhelmed. He was in danger of failing all 3 of his core subjects. Michael came in 6 days before the end of the term and spent 10-12 hours with him and it was also a holiday weekend. My son managed to get a B, C and ended up with one D (to no fault of Michael's). I honestly think my son would have failed all 3 if it weren't for Michael. My son really liked Michael and said he learned more Chemistry in a few hours with Michael than he had the entire semester with his teacher. My son and I would highly recommend Michael!
Judy S. from Loomis, CA Michael is patient and encouraging. My son knows more about pre-algebra than he thought because the pressure is off when he works with Mr. W.
April M. from Roseville, CA I am a mother with an 8 year son that hates school and is extremely behind. After our first session with Michael, my son not only could multiply by 9 but actually taught me a new trick. I was super excited and the best part of all is my son actually asks me when does he get to see his tutor again. I feel so lucky to have found such a special tutor. I would absolutely refer this tutor to anyone. He is TOP NOTCH!!!
Denise M. from Granite Bay, CA Mike started working with my daughter a few weeks before the midterm final and she received an A in AP Biology, which in my opinion was directly related to Mike's tutoring. During the past session, Mike went over a lesson that she was going to have a quiz on. She got a 100% on the quiz!
Alexis B. from Lincoln, CA Michael was always on time and gave my daughter his attention 100% while working together. He knew the material and always could help my daughter get the answer, it just took time. My daughter needs to be pushed otherwise she tends to just not do the work, even though it is her that it's hurting. That would be the only thing I would say negatively is she tended to treat Michael like her teacher at school and not as a tutor that is here to help you at your request. Oh teenagers! So I don't know that that is a negative on either one of them other than we need to figure out how to make her value the time she has with Michael.
Elizabeth J. from Roseville, CA Once again my biology lesson was productive and pleasant. Mike explained the content of the lesson thoroughly and he answered my questions in a way that I was able to understand. His amiable personality makes our sessions enjoyable. I look forward to my tutoring sessions with Mike W.
Pamela W. from Sacramento, CA I would recommend this guy to anyone who has special needs and challenges with stats or any subject that he tutors. He is patient, kind, and gets the job done. I plan to continue utilizing his services now and if needed in the future.
Dawn C. from Auburn, CA Michael was easy to contact and to work with. He was able to help me with the "big picture" as I hoped. Can tell he is very patient and kind, would recommend.
Sandra C. from El Dorado Hills, CA My son commented that you really know your stuff! I liked the real world examples you used as well - great teaching!
