I am a middle school English Language Arts teacher with three years of classroom experience, teaching grades 5-8. I graduated from Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in English. At Rowan, I studied various forms of English Literature, as well as lesson planning and unit planning. I am certified to teach grades 6-12, but I am open to teach all ages.

My approach to teaching includes using my students’ interests and making a connection to the educational goals they want to achieve. I personally enjoy reading, writing, drawing, movies, music, video games, and sports, which allows me to use popular culture in my lessons. If you struggle with reading or writing, you can expect to practice reading and writing about things you love while improving your skills.

I can teach basic reading skills, as well as annotating text and close reading. I enjoy teaching students how to make connections between texts, how to personally relate to the text, and how to relate text to the world around them. Remember, because we live in a digital world, we are surrounded by literature and text. It can be fun and exciting!

I will teach students to write effective persuasive (argumentative), informational (explanatory), and entertaining (creative) texts by developing writing prompts about their own interests. This will lay the foundation for developing the structure and skills necessary for more formal writing.

I am personally a fan of reading and writing poetry, reading classic literature, horror fiction, and nonfiction; however, I have studied many forms of English Literature, including but not limited to American Literature, African American Literature, British Literature, “Non-Western” Literature, and Realism and Naturalism.
