Stephen L. from San Jose, CA I passed the CSET subsection three and four because of his thorough teaching. He was very prepared, and he gave me the appropriate tools to succeed. He knows the structure of the test. He explains the concepts clearly and concisely. He was one of the best teachers that I have ever encountered.

Klara F. from Los Gatos, CA When I was looking for a Latin tutor, I came across only a few Latin teachers who were qualified to teach this subject. I was happy to find Douglas for my daughter who studied Latin in her previous school in London and wanted to continue learning in America. Douglas is very helpful in terms of explaining to me and my daughter his lesson plans. He is always on time and well prepared for his lessons. He started tutoring my daughter with confidence and with in depth knowledge of the subject. Douglas definitely has a quality of a great teacher whose teaching style seems to convince every student, even my teenage daughter and keep her engaged and interested in Latin which is not an easy task. My daughter is happy to continue her lessons with him and, hopefully with Douglas' help, bring her knowledge of Latin to a high standard.

Andrew L. from Fremont, CA This is the first time I've written this, but I think you are a great tutor. In just two months, you have helped me to improve my sentence structure, variation, consistency, organization, coherence, and clarity.

Christy H. from San Jose, CA I feel very lucky to find Douglas as my English tutor. My English, while beyond the ESL level, is not as good as native English speakers. As a result it was difficult to find a tutor that met my level. Because Douglas was previously an Editor, he is really good at helping me improve my written English. Douglas is also a good listener and he catches my errors and corrects me when I make any mistake in my spoken English. As a result I?m more confident and comfortable engaging in conversations with native English speakers, not only on work related matters, but also on other random topics.

Fiona X. from Pleasanton, CA Douglas has been tutoring me ESL for a couple months, he was very knowledge of the language including the origins, speaking patterns, etc. The material, "American Accent Training", he selected for me was very helpful in correcting my pronunciation and intonation. He was very critical with any of my pronunciation mistakes, small or big, which is very good since I can learn in an error intolerated environment.

Rafi R. from San Jose, CA My son had problem with SAT critical reading part and I was looking for someone who can help him with that. Within a month my son's SAT score in critical reading part improved to 95% correct.

Lakshmi S. from Fremont, CA My son was skeptical at first, after attending other tutors - But once he met Mr. Douglas he comes back and says he met the best tutor ever. He was able to communicate with him in his own way and the tutor would teach him in simple terms how to solve problems. He is looking forward continuing tutoring with him. Hats off to Mr. Douglas.

Cindy J. from San Jose, CA I am a student of Doug, and I am very satisfied with the improvement I have made in my writing and English in general. In my SAT prep class, I used to receive 9 and 10s on my essays. Ever since I started class with Doug, my scores have been a consistent 12. I like the unique way he approaches writing and the vivid and well-written examples he chooses to show me. I find I learn something new every week, and after every new session I have a new challenge to tackle. Cons: Douglas likes to talk on and on, so class tends to be longer than originally planned. However, this does expand the student's wealth of knowledge, so it may actually not be a bad thing. I suggest that for the first class, the student should bring some samples of his/her writing to Doug so that he knows where to start. Hire Douglas for your English tutor. You will not regret it.

Heyinn R. from San Jose, CA Mr. Douglas is cordial and makes a learning process an easygoing discussion. He has prepared for me many great examples to demonstrate his point when teaching me how to write. He is a great tutor in a sense that he persuades you with evidence. He starts from fundamental ideas and plants them in your mind well. Though expert at public speaking and general English, he may not be too eager to teach you how to raise your SAT writing. Yet he was insightful in his reasoning for not in favor of SAT writing.

John P. from San Jose, CA Studying the LSAT can be confusing. But I'm glad to have Douglas break down complex questions and making it easy. He helps me develop techniques and strategies that builds my confidence. Currently Douglas is still my regular tutor until October.

Cris Z. from Fremont, CA My child has been taking Latin lessons from Douglas for about a year. Since Latin was not offered at my child's school, my child started from scratch, and Douglas has been a very patient tutor. He is very knowledgeable on the subject. Learning Latin has helped my child a lot on English and Science as well. I have seen positive results so far. We would continue with the Latin lessons.

Mojy M. from Saratoga, CA Douglas has been tutoring my son and daughter for the SAT test since the beginning of this summer. What I have observed about his method is that he describes the original root for each word which helps greatly to understand and remember the vocabulary. I had been looking for a tutor to work with my teenagers on English and I believe Douglas is preparing them for both the test and the use of the language in general. The other great thing about him is that my kids are having fun while learning from him. Douglas has a pleasant personality and I'm delighted with him as a tutor.
