Former Medical Student and College Lecturer who Loves to Teach
Hi!
I began my undergraduate education as an electrical engineering student where I founded a robotics organization known as the Engineering Design Team. I then transferred to physics to learn the fundamentals of engineering and did a brief internship with a subcontractor for The Department of Defense. It was at this point I decided to apply my love for science to promoting health and wellness, so I switched to the biological sciences, completed a major in Movement Science, and did additio…
Testimonials
Jamie W. from Angwin, CA Will is extremely knowledgeable about physics and has gotten me through the entire year of one of the most difficult courses I have ever taken! He is terrific at explaining essential concepts and is very well prepared for each lesson. He makes learning fun! I am also looking into various medical colleges to attend after I finish my undergraduate. Will is very helpful in explaining what medical school is like during the application process and after getting in. He is all-around helpful. 100 stars!!!
Jamie L. from Santa Rosa, CA Three weeks ago I failed my first chemistry exam. I looked on the internet for tutors after having a couple mediocre experiences with tutors provided by my community college. I tried out one wyzant tutor and then found Will. The first thing Will did was make me feel comfortable and normalize the struggles that I have been having with a very difficult subject. I emailed Will some of the example problems that we had been going over in class and before our first session he had already prepared a great lesson that was directed towards my goals (scoring better on my next exam!). Having a tutor that is knowledgable and patient are important assets for a tutor, but not only does Will possess these skills, but in my opinion he possesses a greater asset. He understands what it means to be a tutor (vs. a teacher) and acknowledges that he provides a service. Affording tutoring is not easy and more inexpensive tutoring is available, however, there is a reason for that. Will was absolutely willing to teach me in the way that I wanted to learn, which is different for everyone, especially for me. There were times I interrupted him mid sentence to either explain something better or skip to the next subject because I understood what he was saying or did not think it was pertinent to what I wanted from the session. These interruptions were only met with humility and appreciation that I knew what I wanted from him. Will appreciates the different ways that everyone learns and I felt that he took an authentic interest in the way my brain can absorb information. He often complimented me on my unique ways of memorizing and obtaining information which is nice coming from someone who has extensive experience with higher education. I went from a poor grade and just hoping I would pass to a final grade of a B. I am glad I met Will at the time I did; he only helped me for three weeks but it made a huge difference in my overall grade and experience. I highly suggest Will for academic tutoring at any college level, and also for younger students who seek empowerment and support in their educational paths.
Jocelyn A. from Windsor, CA Will is the best tutor we could ever ask for. He is so knowledgeable, friendly, and relates well to the kids. He tutored my daughter in AP Physics, when she was is a sophomore. She got an A both semesters and a 4 on the AP exam. Her teacher taught little, mostly gave assignments and did labs. Will provided her with a strong understanding of every topic. If you are looking for a tutor who you child will enjoy learning and spending time, Will is you guy. We were lucky he had just moved to the area because once word gets around how great he is, it's going to be hard to hire him. His fee for tutoring is worth every $ spent. He should actually raise his prices.
Lisa M. from Healdsburg, CA Will has been working with our teenage son twice-weekly for over a year now, and I wanted to update my review to reflect the amazing job he has done for our family. Will is a brilliant teacher, able to break complicated subjects down into simple terms and communicate them with patience and clarity. We pay him a half-hour for lesson preparation, since he is guiding our 8th grade son through an advanced course of study in science and math, and he never fails to use this time well. He brings in experiments, well-thought-through lesson plans, and takes time to go over and grade every assignment our son completes, making sure to go over and problems that gave him trouble. Will is also a gem of a human, with a strong ethical sense. He looks at our bright, complex, and talkative home-study student as a chance to grow in patience and teaching skills. Having Will on board as a tutor, I feel assured that my son is getting a stellar background in math and science, with an emphasis on the fun of learning. Our independent study choice would not be nearly as successful without him. I give him my highest recommendation.
Deena S. from Rohnert Park, CA William made a great connection with our son. This allowed him to tutor in a way that our son could learn best. While our son may complain about doing homework during the summer, he's proud that he's ahead of the curve for his grade. We are very pleased with William.
