Berkeley Grad – Focus on Science, Math, and Computers
I tutor because I love science and math, I’m good at solving problems, and I enjoy sharing interesting ideas.
I studied computer science in college, with additional coursework in biology, physics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, and linguistics. After graduation I worked as a technical writer and computer programmer for eight years. I enjoy writing, editing, and illustrating, and I have a deep understanding of computers, how they work, and how to make them work.

Testimonials
Shannon M. from Seattle, WA Ben is a great tutor. He is fun to work with and has a very strong and thorough understanding of precalculus, the class he has been helping me with. His obvious love of math is infectious to the reluctant student (me). He is always punctual, responds quickly, and keeps focused on the task at hand. He is very intuitive regarding how I learn and what I need to practice and work on. I highly recommend him for any of the subjects he lists on his bio.
Kellyt E. from Seattle, WA Very knowledgeable, connects my son's studies to previous and future assignments, my son (15) thinks Ben is fun (I hear them laughing). They complete assignments, and my son's grade in Physical Science has gone up 2 letter grades in the short time he has worked with Ben. Ben does a very good job! Always on time.
Doug A. from Seattle, WA Benjamin is very well-prepared and delivers 5-Star tutoring every week to our 8th grader (math, algebra, geometry, statistics and more); he is patient and communicates well; he keeps parents well-informed. He rates 5 stars on all his lessons - (I missed the first one (Jan 20th) because my gmail account is sometimes not cooperative or interactive with incoming mail).
Patricia B. from Seattle, WA "It's working!" is what my son said to me after his substitute math teacher handed out a worksheet to complete in class. Although the math problems on the worksheet were not new, many of the students still did not understand how to solve these equations. My son was able to work side by side with several classmates helping them just as Ben had showed him. We have only had two sessions and already my son has made improvements and is feeling more confident in this class. I am looking forward to seeing how my son's GPA will improve.
Juli B. from Seattle, WA Ben helped my daughter study for a test today. Not only did they cover a lot of material in one hour, but he also took the initiative to work with her on discerning what information was important and how to best break down the information to remember it for the test. Essentially she had two lessons in one: one on the material itself, and another on learning valuable study skills!
Jessie M. from Renton, WA When I first sat down with Ben, I explained that I was getting by in my class, but not understanding what I was learning. As he explained things I was able to actually picture the different mechanisms in a cell working, and imagine how the processes work. He is extremely direct in how he teaches and so easy to work with.
