Retired Teacher Reading Specialist
I have just retired from 25 years of teaching K through 8th grade special/regular education students how to read (decode and comprehend), write and learn math skills/concepts. I used the Wilson Reading Program for decoding which has been very successful for students who have not mastered this skill in the regular classrooms. The emphasis is on phonemic awareness, phonic skills, and fluency,along with how to recognize sight words. I also pull in literature books to teach comprehension skills….
