I was impressed with her holistic approach towards my 13 year old son who has been struggling with algebra I. We talked for 50 minutes, as she really wanted to get a sense of where she could be helpful. She has been very flexible and accommodating in terms of setting up lesson times. My son just had his first session, and seems genuinely pleased. He thought she explained the material well, was fun and pointed him towards some helpful online resources. He worked with her for two hours straight without complaining! I like the fact that she really seems to care about the student as opposed to trying to push for as many lessons as possible. 1/21/2014 4:37:47 PM My 13 year old son was struggling with Algebra I, and had received a 60 on his test. His teacher was recommending he leave the course and go back to prealgebra. I decided to give tutoring a try. Sandra has been very patient, methodical and accessible. My son says everything is making sense to him now. He enjoys his sessions - "time flies". And thanks to Sandra, he scored 89 on his next test! 2/10/2014 6:47:10 PM My son scored an 89 on a recent pop quiz, and actually outperformed his fraternal twin (and quite a few classmates). He is now so caught up that Sandra and I agreed suggested that he take a break. 4/26/14 My son got an 89 in math on his third quarter report card, and has been recommended for Honors Geometry I. However, a break from his tutor has not worked for him in terms of staying focused on his assignments, so we have resumed sessions. 5/5/14 Sandra figured out that there must have been a misunderstanding on my son's part in terms of which problems were due, and "rescued" him from ruining his last quarter grade. Having such a dedicated tutor is a huge relief.
