Yoko B. offers Japanese Lessons

Lexi R. from Berkeley, CA Yoko is an excellent Japanese tutor. She is very knowledgable and passionate about the Japanese language: she will make sure that you understand how to speak proper textbook Japanese, and then help you customize your dialect, depending on your gender, age, etc. She also taught about cultural aspects of the language: from varying the type of speech depending on context (which is VERY important for Japanese) to understanding which aspects of the language are being degraded through lazy, information-age usage. On a practical level, Yoko was very flexible in terms of meeting times and locations and was very conscientious about meeting my needs. In this case, I needed to brush up on my Japanese for a job interview, and she was very helpful in preparing for the interview in a variety of ways: working through mock interviews and providing other helpful job search materials. On a personal level, Yoko is a very caring tutor, whom I would now consider a friend as well as a teacher. Throughout the process of preparing for the interview, she would frequently contact me to find out how things were going and to provide moral support and encouragement. Outside of our scheduled lesson times, she would send me supplemental materials, such as interesting Japanese websites/webcomics and dramas, to help me gain more exposure to the language. I would highly recommend receiving tutoring from Yoko!
