Hi my name is Jason. I’m a pianist and cellist teaching and performing in SE Michigan. I’m dedicated to promoting growth and well-being through the arts.
I hold a Masters in Piano Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, UK and a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan. I have a passion for collaboration, both with other musicians as well as with other disciplines.
Outside of performing and private lessons, I am an active accompanist and I regularly collaborate for voice/instrumental lessons, recitals, auditions, Solo & Ensemble, etc. I also teach at the Saturday Arts Academy at the Detroit School of Arts and in the summers I teach cello and music improvisation at the CellochanWoods Music Course in Vermont.
Most recently, I created and performed original works with other musicians and visual artists for the Curiosa exhibition in Gois, Portugal, and also performed works by Ravel and Debussy alongside original choreography with dancers and choreographers from the London Contemporary Dance School. Other recent projects include work with musical theatre, silent film, contemporary composers, local musicians, and dancers.
I’ve also performed in many duos, trios, quartets, and quintets, as well as larger ensembles and orchestras such as the Guildhall New Music Ensemble, UM University Choir, Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Ensemble, the Panache Group, Mosaic Youth Theatre, and the Seaway Chorale and Orchestra. I am actively and regularly performing around the SE Michigan area.

Title: Instructor, Accompanist
Description: Saturday Arts Academy is a new partnership between the Detroit School of Arts, Mosaic Youth Theatre, and the College for Creative Studies aimed at providing middle school students of Detroit free arts education in a variety of topics.
I currently teach and provide piano accompaniment in the vocal music program. Along with a partner, we teach fundamentals for singers in classroom and masterclass settings. We work with both individuals and groups on subjects including different genres of singing, warm ups, breath control, music theory, etc.

Description: I was an intern for award winning film composer Ilan Eshkeri, known for his work on films including Kick-Ass, The Young Victoria, and Shaun the Sheep.
During my internship, I learned to use sequencing programs like Logic Pro and Pro Tools to edit and organize recordings for sound, speed, and other attributes. I also used notation software like Sibelius 7 to create and edit musical scores for various commercial use including film and television.

Description: I had a wide range of duties with Panache. On the performing side, I would regularly perform on both piano and cello for events such as weddings, dinner parties, and corporate gatherings in both solo and group settings. On a writing side, I would arrange musical compositions and organize music books for piano, cello, and other instruments.
On the logistical side, I managed client communications and bookings for various events, as well as organized meetings and logistics for group rehearsals and performances.
