What are the Best Sofa Options for Moving Families?

07 November 2024

Some families build roots that last generations. Others move from place to place on a yearly (or even more frequent) basis. If you are one of the latter, then it can be hard on you, and the kids. Sure, you are likely moving because you or your partner has to work (for example, if one of you is with the military), but that doesn’t mean that it’s not hard to keep changing places.

Now, while you may not be able to do anything about the constant moves without uplifting your career, what you can do for your kids is make sure that your home feels the same. What’s the best way to do just that?

Keep the furniture and décor almost the same.

Now, this is hard to do when changing spaces. Sometimes furniture just doesn’t fit in one home like it does the other. That’s why you need to be clever about the furniture options you buy in the first place.

Just take the couch, for example. The sofa is one of the primary places where your entire family can gather. Couches are, however, hard to fit in different spaces – especially the larger ones.

So, what’s the solution? Sectional options! With these winning sofas, you can bring comfort, design, and adaptability with you from home to home, regardless of how often you move:

Leather Sectional

If you want something that will continue to look beautiful for decades, while remaining comfortable and easy to adapt to each new living space, choose a leather sectional. Leather is a very hard-wearing material (so long as you keep it conditioned on schedule). Since it’s so long-lasting, it will continue to look great in home after home. Then, thanks to the sectioned design, you can adapt the sofa to fit your space every time.

Cloud Sofa Sectional

If you want something so comfortable everyone including your baby, can nap on it, then choose a cloud sectional sofa. These are cushion-central, and very cosy to snuggle up in. They also don’t have any harsh edges, which makes them ideal for kids since they can hang off every inch of them in comfort.

Velvet Sectional

Choose a velvet sectional if you want something you can roll around in and just push your face into. These are great as well for some sensory seeking kids – just make sure that your specific kid is cool with velvet, as it could also be a sensory nightmare.

Boucle Sectional

Boucle is a great option if you have kids, and pets. The fabric is textured and comfortable to the touch, while also hiding minor issues like scratches. Boucle itself can be quite plush, or flatwoven, so if you do have pets that will go on the sofa choose one of the more flatwoven options so pulls don’t happen.

Bonus: Small Seaters

If sectionals aren’t right for you for any reason, then you should consider instead sticking with the old-school living room format. This means having a small two or three-seater, and an armchair or two. These were the go-to living room furniture pieces, which means they’re more likely to fit in all sizes of living rooms.
