How to Start a Daycare Center – Child Care Worker Restrictions

People working in the child care field is often referred as “baby sitters” but being part of a child care facility is being more than a baby sitter – you should not think that you are a baby sitter, you’re teachers and professionals.  Working in a child care center doesn’t really require that you should be with children all the time – as part of your job, you need to help the child and you also need to help the parent.  Being a professional and acting in a professional way is important to child care employees:

  • Confidentiality is important in the field of child care.  Be careful when talking about children with others, including family members.  You can get into lots of problem by sharing confidential information about the children – we have to be professional and not share confidentialities about children.

  • Build the child up and use positive reinforcement.

  • Closely follow the discipline policy of the center and be sure that you’re not disciplining the child in any way that would be against what the discipline policy says.

For your state’s child care rules and regulations please contact your state child care licensing agency.
